Research
Welcome to the Neurodegeneration Informatics lab based at the University of Cambridge. Our work has two main focuses.
Firstly, we seek to understand how neurodegenerative disease affects the whole brain, using a combination of brain imaging, pathology data, genetic information and clinical testing. We particularly focus on diseases where a protein called tau builds up within brain cells. These include Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and Corticobasal Syndrome.
Secondly, we aim to develop and implement artificial intelligence and machine learning methods for use in memory clinics. We regularly uses these kind of advanced mathematical tools in our research work, and we are keen to use them in a way that will help people with neurodegenerative diseases and the doctors and other health professionals they see in clinics. This work is organised through the Quantitative MRI in NHS Memory Clinics (QMIN-MC) study.
